STANLEY BRINKS was born in Paris, France, in 1973. He studied a bit of biology, and worked as a nurse for a while. Half Swedish, half Moroccan, strongly inclined to travel the world, he soon started spending most of his life on the road, and developed a strong relationship with the city of New York. He also started playing the soprano sax (among other instruments) in jazz bands. He finally became a full time singer-songwriter – as André Herman Düne – in the late 1990's. He recorded several albums and Peel sessions with his three piece indie-rock band, Herman Düne. After a decade of touring Europe, most of the time in the company of American songwriters, he finally settled in Berlin, Germany. There he grew a taste for the early carnival music of Trinidad, and in the early 21st century he became the unquestioned master of European calypso, and changed his name to Stanley Brinks.

Performing solo with a guitar or a clarinet most of the time, he also toured and recorded a lot with the Wave Pictures, Freschard, Ish Marquez, among others. In 2010, after an all-night jam with local musicians in Egersund, Norway, he started his own band: Stanley Brinks and the Kaniks. The seven-piece all acoustic band recorded “Jamaica Inn” at a nearby lighthouse. It was followed by “Alligator Twilight”, recorded in a Norwegian farmhouse in 2011. In 2012 Stanley Brinks and some Kaniks, the Flying Kaniks - violin, trombone and banjo – went to Malta and recorded “Hafna Xita”, a collection of fun dark songs, both minimal and sophisticated, very much in tune with the spirit of the island. On “Stanley Brinks hovers” (2012), the 100th album in his discography, he uses a great variety of arrangements, and somewhat classic songwriting. In “Maltese Suite” (2013) he explores the sounds and styles of a decadent Sicilian-Arabian folklore.

On “Stanley Brinks Whistles” (2014) he mixes South African kwela and songwriting, and improvises on the pennywhistle. “Gin”, his third album with the British rock band The Wave Pictures, was released on Fika Records in 2014. "Robotika" (2015) is a concept album based mostly on a Czech play about robots, featuring uneven rhythms and a Greek-tuned mandolin. "My Ass" (2015), fourth album of Stanley Brinks with the Wave Pictures, features the pennywhistle, and a female choir.

Freschard grew up in a farm in French Burgundy. She started organizing shows in the barn when she was about 12 years old. Aged 18 she moved to the big city, Paris, where she baked pies and cakes in a cafe. There, a local musician and regular customer called Andre Herman Dune wrote a few songs for her to sing. She called her first E.P. “Neon Orange”. Homeless in Paris, she saved up just enough money to get herself a ticket to New York. There she found an old electric guitar and started writing her own songs. She recorded her second e.p., "Shower Gel", with Mike Gomez on lapsteel guitar. In 2004 she moved to Berlin, where she recorded her first LP, "Alien Duck". Her second album, "Click Click", recorded in 2006, features a drummer (Leo Bear Creek), and electric guitar by Stanley Brinks. On her third album, “moonstone”, she plays the drums herself. On her fourth “shh...” she also plays the flute. Her last album “boom biddy boom” is a masterpiece.

Between tours, she works as a sound engineer and records her friends' music. Among others she recorded “Yodels” by Stanley Brinks, “if you leave it alone” by the Wave Pictures. She has a Calypso cover band with Stanley Brinks, called Kreuzberg Museum. She's also part of the cult band "the Fox" with Stanley Brinks, Ariel Sharatt and Mathias Kom (aka "the Burning Hell").
All of her albums have been released on cdrs by the label radbab records.
“Click click” has been released on vinyl by Conky records.
“Boom Biddy Boom” has been released on vinyl in the UK by Wiawya records as well as a 7 inch of two of her songs with the Wave Pictures.
Her duet album co-written with Stanley Brinks called “Pizza espresso” was released in the UK in August 2014.

Vermillion Tides are an English psychedelic indie rock band from Halifax, formed in 2015 by guitarist and songwriter Blair Murray, vocalist Natalie Cooper-Bates and drummer James Newsome. Before deciding to start his own band, Blair drummed with acts as varied as Nashville country singer-songwriter Laura Cantrell and Manchester bands Twisted Wheel and Marion. Blair had also played alongside Tom Hingley (ex-Inspiral Carpets) this is where he met Andrew Tarling who had been playing guitar for Tom Hingley and The Lovers along with Steve and Paul Hanley ex members from The Fall. Knowing Andrews capabilities it was certain he would be a great fit to join Blair in the reformed Marion on guitar as well as Vermillion Tides on bass. Whilst on tour with Twisted Wheel, Blair was introduced to Natalie, who at the time was the singer for the Leeds based band The Black Isle and since then the two have been in a relationship. After seeing her perform wit her band, Blair and James asked her to join Vermillion Tides. Since forming, Vermillion Tides have been working in the recording studio with bass player Andy McKinlay and producers Andy McKerlie (guitarist and piano/organ player on the Folks album I See Cathedrals and bass player for Marion) and Yves Altana (producer and session musician for Peter Hook (Joy Division, New Order), DeStijl, Julie Gordon (Happy Mondays), Mark Burgess (The Chameleons) and I Am Kloot.’
